Can somone please give me some info on how fast the date/day on the cal 79420
changes. Has IWC added any quick date change over the base movement?

I have another (non-iwc) watch with a Valjoux/ETA 7750 and the date change
takes about 6 hours. When this is happening you are locked out from changing
the time. This is a problem as i rotate my watches and dont use a winder, so
about 1/4 of the time when i pick this watch up i cannot change the time and
have to give it a bit of a manual wind-up and hope that the next day it hasn't
stopped within the date change zone again.

This isn't a problem with my Portuguese Auto or Spitfire 3878, but i noticed
that the new Top Gun Ceretanium still uses the 7750 base movement and it could
    be a dealbreaker

    Thanks

You can ALWAYS, no matter the time, change the date manually by adjusting the
time forward and winding past midnight.

The only thing not to do, is use the quickset date adjustment between 9pm and
    2am

The So-called LOCK OUT TIME is a very misunderstood concept.

Thanks for the reply. My 7750 base watch must work differently. When the
date/day discs are in motion, you cannot move the crown out to position 2 to
change the time. If you pull too hard (as i have done in the past) it causes
the discs to slip and be stuck at 1/2 rotations, this can only be re-aligned
by taking the movement apart. Thanks again for confirming the action of the
    IWC implimentation.
