    Happy Holidays and a quick little reveal. When I saw this simple pocketwatch
    from 1894 I thought the movement looked familiar. I checked the "date you
    IWC" applet and the database suggests it is a cal 52 or 53 from 1893. But the
    cutaway around the balance looks a bit different on this one.

    This
    beautiful movement actually appears to be a calibre 49. The case is well worn
    but not damaged. The bow shows the wear of many years on a chain. And the
    crown has been worn down smooth and had new grooves crewdly cut in. And best
    of all, this little treasure is still keeping time.
