Long story short, a friend picked this piece up as well as another one similar to it at a swap meet, he had them serviced and my brother bought this one off of him a few years ago.
This model looks very much like a ref. 7347.
The movement, equipped with the Pellaton automatic winding system, is calibre 853 built in 1963.
The movement has been used in many IWC Ingenieur vintage models but it has no soft iron case to protect the watch to powerful magnetic fields.
Such case is only present in the Ingenieurs.

Very nice Cal. 85 based timepiece.
You may want to consider sending it to Schaffhausen for a full revision. That way, theis watch will come back looking like new, and be good for another 55 years !
