I was hoping this community may be able to help me learn a little bit more
about this IWC watch. Here's what I know about it:
Vintage IWC Schaffhausen Women's Gold Watch
Very likely purchased in early 1940s (pre-1945)
Gold band is marked "525"
Watch still functions when wound

Thank you for your reply. I do not trust myself to open up the watch for fear
of damaging it. Is there any way to determine more about this watch from its
face/design alone? The back of the watch has no markings on it. Thank you
again to all for any input.
One thing I do notice, is that most of the IWC watches have script typography
on the dial for spelling out IWC, but this watch has block letters spelling
out IWC. I was hoping that may be an identifying feature to determine either
the type of watch this is, or at least provide for a time period wherein the
block letter typeface was used. Perhaps that is just wishful thinking.
Many of the smaller (ladies) size watches came with block letters instead of
the signature. Beyond that, I can't offer much about the watch. A photo of the
movement, and the serial numbers would allow collectors to search the
approximate year of manufacture and sale from a website.
I don't recall seeing gold cases marked .525, which would suggest 12 karat
(actually 12.6).
