All good things take a bit longer….

Production is going well, but there’s been a slight delay in delivery of dials. IWC was hoping to have the watches in your hands by the end of August, but it now looks like September.

I have been waiting for some time to send out the actual contracts, where you finalize arrangements (no need to pay until delivery but the applicable Boutique will need your credit card number). There was a slight further delay but I’ve been told that I’ll have them all early next week. But bear with me –I need to send out a ton of e-mails and they are all individualized. But hopefully by the end of next week, at the latest, you’ll have confirmation.

Everyone who has applied has gotten one of course. Not everyone could get their choice of number, but most people did, assuming the numbers weren’t low and bumped by the owners of the Collectors Forum Ingenieur. If you’re concerned before next week about whether your application was received and if the number is really important before then, feel free to e-mail me (it sometimes takes me a day to reply).

I believe that orders are still exclusive through this forum until the end of June. However, waiting may not be a good strategy. In addition to possibly getting a special number, trying to purchase an unallocated one after June 30 may be difficult. If, say, there’s 100 unsold by the end of June and there are approximately 75 boutiques, most boutiques will get one and a few may get two (in theory a few boutiques might get one or two more). I would think that these will scarce, and often allocated to a good boutique customer. So –if you’re thinking of ordering, I would urge you to do so now.

If you want to order, for the time being the form is down and you need to e-mail me. I need to know
    Your name
    Your e-mail address
    Your postal address
    Your preferred Boutique
Any preferred numbers (no guarantees) or numbers to avoid

If you need more information, here’s the original post announcing the watch
…and here’s a great post by Andrew Thomas with wrist shots of the actual dial (click here... --and from where the top photo was from. Thanks Andrew!

I genuinely believe you must consider this watch if at all possible. It’s a relatively exclusive limited edition and it represents this forum. In addition to a number, you can have your name or initials engraved on the back. It’s the first IWC in-house pilot’s watch that’s antimagnetic and with a single date window. A great watch in my sometimes not-so-humble opinion!

    Thanks.

I always love a post that has CF3 in the header.
It's a really lovely watch and I hope you will be able to order your one before they become so hard to come by scattered around the global boutiques.

Wearing the watch was a wonderful moment and so look forward to September and the first CF3 collectors get together soon after.

Great news. I am happy to hear that the delivery is possible in September. Question to all the future CF3 owners: Who is going to organize a CF3 GTG where?
    Cheers Chris

Thanks for the update, Mike. I'm looking forward to getting mine, and hope distribution might be done via a Gathering somewhere, perhaps one on each continent with multiples in Asia?

Gents, no fear - it's just like a fine red wine. It only gets better with time (as long as we don't have to wait too long!)

Great update MF - patience is a virtue and we can't wait. LoL

It's really not long now and considering it is my first Pilots watch, I can't wait. Michael, when do we get the opportunity to finalise the engraving we would like?

    Cheers,

Michael, thanks for the update. Waiting patiently to call this beautiful and very special piece mine, wear it on my wrist, and have a great meeting with my friends here in this forum who will also wear this piece on their wrist.

To reply to the last two posts:

    1. I think you may be able to specify engravings next week. I'm not sure since I have yet to see the commitment forms.

    2. We are hopeful --no promises yet-- to have official events for CF3 owners only in several places worldwide, including Schaffhausen!

An event in Schaffhausen would be GREAT! My vote, if it has any push, would be to get everyone together there= we have done so in the past, and it was unforgettable!
    Here's hoping!!

A CF3 event in Schaffhausen, sounds extremly good and I am hopeful too. The earlier we know the date, the more CF3 owners can join, the greater the event will be...but no push of course ;-)

Where and how did you party "in the past"?
Please tell me about it, I´m curious.

There were two IWC sponsored IWC collectors meetings in the past held in Schaffhausen. We all gathered in Schaffhausen, and IWC showed us a most wonderful time- from tours of the factory, cross-bow shooting ala Wilhelm Tell, presentations, great food, and more...and of course the camaraderie! It really showed the collectors just how very much IWC cares for us- and I know the friendships that developed around our love of IWC watches was great and is lasting!

Has it really been 12 years since the first Collectors' Meeting? Time does indeed, fly by hastily.

Its nice to think of all the friendships based on a shared passion for a watch brand that were ignited at that meeting and how many of them still exist both on the Forum and outside of it. I get excited just even thinking that there's a possibility of another one in Schaffhausen. Wouldn't it be special to do it again?

    Warm regards,

    Larry
