    Hello Guys,

I am considering purchasing a pre-owned CF3 that I was able to find. However, when I called the store, they stated that the watch was in mint condition but was running fast by 10+ seconds when it was purchased from its original owner. This led them to send it to IWC to have it serviced since it is still under warranty.

Should I be concerned to purchase this watch due to this issue? Do you guys have any thoughts? I really wanted this watch but this is really making me hesitant.

If Schaffhausen gives a good look at the watch, and they give their 2 year guarantee to it, I guess you can buy it without worries.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

If we can assume that the "store" where the watch was origianlly purchased is an authorized dealer, I don't see anything that would prevent you from proceeding with the acquision.

But would the fact that it already needed to be serviced worry you?

The fact that the watch is not brand new and is serviced should reflect in the price of the watch. If the watch is OK'd by the manufacturer, this should kill the worries about the watch.

But I don't like to buy second hand, I prefer my watches new and perfect, bought at an AD, paying the price, but getting the best. So if for instance I would like to buy a Big Pilot now, I would buy the newest one, presented last week, that happens to look like the best and most beautiful Big Pilot ever.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

The CF3 is an excellent watch. Still one of the best Pilots produced in recent years, including the current crop. It's not unusual for mechanical watches to require some adjustment during the first couple of years. A simple task.

If the store is reputable and IWC serviced the watch and provided their two year warranty, I would be comfortable in the purchase as long as I received verification of the service by IWC.

While the timing should be better, such a condition can be caused by a variety of reasons, and it may have even originally escaped Schaffhausen with the issue. Even brand new watches sometimes have issues.

A brand new CF3 was placed in my hands for the first time at the Schaffhausen Boutique adjacent to the IWC Headquarters. And yet, upon arriving home I quickly found that the chrono minute counter did not work at all.

IWC of course was extremely apologetic and fixed the watch promptly. I'm wearing mine today in fact.

Issues like these shouldn't happen, but they sometimes do. One mark of a good company is not how they behave when all is good, but how they react when there is a problem. In my case, IWC reacted in an outstanding manner. The watch has been outstanding - I'm wearing it today in fact.

So with proper verification of the service, don't worry about why it needed service so soon. Relax knowing that you are covered by a warranty from a very fine company and enjoy one of the coolest watches to come down the pike.

Thanks so much for the help! I really do agree with you assessment on how to judge a company based on how they react to a problem. My first chromo I bought from IWC had scratches on it and they swiftly gave me a new one no problem.

Thank you everyone for helping me out with me issue. Totally appreciate it.
