It's taken a while, I would admit, but I have some preliminary good news for forum members. This post is a teaser --no images or details yet-- but it's a good teaser.

As of today I have approved the design for the third Collectors' Forum limited edition watch. I understand that Georges Kern has previously signed off on it, as have a lot of key executives, so we're good to go.

I will disclose a few details:

--each watch will have an individual number (not 1 out of X)
--each watch can be engraved with the collector's name (which can be done after delivery as a logistical matter)
--the watch will have an in-house movement
--the watch will only be available to forum members and not the general public

Given all these factors, I have told IWC that I believe the edition should be limited to 150.

There will be more details subsequently. But please don't tell me again what you'd like --at this stage I don't want to disappoint anyone, I can't please everyone and it took a lot of back-and-forth to get to this point. I believe you won't be disappointed; on the contrary I think most of you will be absolutely thrilled.

But, cautious as I am, nothing is final until everything is final. Stay tuned.

I wait with great anticipation for the final details. My piggy bank has funds standing by. Thanks for all you time and effort on behalf of the Forum members. Thanks to all in Schaffhausen as well.

    Excellent News MF.

I know that you and others have worked diligently to keep the momentum on this one - and I look forward to the "reveal".

My watch piggy bank is empty, but rest assured I've already placed my order with the AD (pending confirmation of distribution method), so please count me in.

Dear Mr. Teaser ( aka Michael )

Exciting news indeed ! I can't wait for the full reveal. Indulge me for a moment. Can you give us a ballpark idea of ( if all goes well ) a scheduled delivery time. The reason I ask is for financial planning and budgeting. I have a few other pieces being considered and want to make sure I'm acting accordingly so not to miss out on this opportunity.

Any info regarding delivery and anticipated cost would be appreciated ( if possible of course ).

Thanks again for the update and positive news Michael.

Andy --the watch will not be delivered until some time in 2014, probably the Summer. Price has not been determined but I would guess it will be less than 15,000 USD (given the price of IWC models with in-house movements). In general special editions have a 10% premium, but this one might be a but more given a special feature.

Michael, thanks for the info and the dollar upper limit you posted later.

Let me start the prediction market on this one and predict it will not have a see=through sapphire-glass back! Don't ask me how I know that.

More seriously, can somebody please post here CF1 and CF2 front and back, if back is special or engraved?

And a request, if at all possible. Instead of or in addition to the standard plastic guarantee card, can IWC be pursued to issue a paper certificate with these watches along the same way that the IWC guarantee was issued a generation back? There is something about owning a paper certificate or a paper letter in this modern age of emails and plastic cards.

    Cheers,

    Ray

Looks like persistence pays off. My watch budget for this year has already been exceeded so next summer seems like great timing. Sounds like many things we asked for...numbered, engraving, limited to Forum, in house movement. Count me in.

    Hi MF,

Great news and thanks for the update not forgetting all the great effort!

It sounds exciting and cannot wait to get more info of this CF3 model, but I got a question, how will the watch be allocated? Is it by a draw? Will you get to choose the number?

    Cheers!

    Hi Fleek,

All this hasn't been decided. I sometimes wonder if even 150 will be a stretch, and if less makes sense. But if there are allocations,I would like to do them via forum participation, with a weighting towards more recent participation.

On numbers, allocating them can be logistically difficult. In theory I'd like those with CFI's to have the same number, but that might not be doable.

These are just my personal thoughts, and nothing has been decided yet.

    Hi Michael,

This is sensational news, I along with everyone else look forward to the full details and would love to be one of those 150 that can obtain one of these based on the information provided thus far.

    Cheers,

    Ben

I guess we can all breath a sigh a relief that Shing is not as active as he once was - there was a while there when the number of contributions he was making would have seen 145 of the 150 allocated directly to Shing!

Upon seeing the title and Michael's first post, my increasing heart beat rate slowed to a normal pace after reading the release date above. This may require me to rework my future purchase plans...

Thanks for the update Michael! Good stuff and looking forward for more news on this.
