looks very classy!
B.
I like this croc strap, it makes the watch look a bit richer. Enjoy it!
Kind regards,
Paul
We thought about using an alligator strap (crocodiles are endangered species and their skins are not used). The problem was that the watch then became less of a "tool" watch and the gloss of the strap didn't go as well with the flat black dial.
What I'd like to see is a black matt strap, if not calf perhaps something exotic like a sharkskin, with white stitching. Perhaps I'll get something made.
Interesting that you bring this up, Michael, as my first IWC, my 5004, was sold to me on a "crocodile" strap although I knew it could not, or at least, should not, be. The strap on my Big Pilot and other IWC watches were described in the Annual editions as being "crocodile" up through the 2008 edition. I always wondered about this but suspected it was alligator all along.
Thanks for sharing Michael, did you find any nice black matt strap so far? I'm still looking for better alternative.
Besides, I realized it's very difficult to avoid very minor scratch on the crystal itself for everyday watch, how you guys get rid of this?
Hi zhenhui and Ben,
Not yet on the strap, but I haven't looked very much. For straps, I sometimes use customers ones from a company in Paris.
Also, Ben, you might be interested in this discussion from 2005 about crocodile and alligator:

Thank you Michael. And, possibly, Zhenhui's minor scratches could be on the anti-reflective coating. I know it has happened to me; the only cure (or preventative) is to be more careful.
Hi,
I use this one for summer, it is just perfect. Ex Patrouille Suisse...
I never scratched a saphire cristal. Even not the antireflective coating.
Could it be your "scratches" are just some dirt on top which could be cleaned away?
Wow Tom, this is the best change from the original strap I saw so far. It really looks perfect for (a hot) summer!
Cheers Chris

Thanks Chris, the wonderful staff at the SH boutique were very helpful to find a matching strap.
Hi Michael & Tilo,
Hmm, I get what you mean.. It's something very light one like you will only see it on the certain reflection angle, not too sure is it on the anti-reflective coating as BEN mentioned but is hardly noticeable.
Hi Ben, yep need to be more careful while wearing it. hehe
Hi Tom, really suitable for summer pairing with pin buckle. :)
Tom,
That looks very good!
