Friday last week drove past Biggin Hill and there just yards from the road was Britains only flying Lancaster, all 4 Merlin engines running sweet and without a hint of blue smoke, you have never seen cars park up so quickly, even a bus came to a halt. Less than ten minutes later I was at my destination in time to hear Merlin engines and there banking after takeoff was a Spitfire and Hurricane heading north over London. There was no scheduled air show and no special event there but it was a great sight and sound to come across.
    Enjoy the Chicago Airshow!

So here are some of my best shots from the show. Imagine your pilot watches as you gaze at these.

Some of the pics were taken from the top of our building, on the 41st floor. I think the best thing about the show is that the planes fly right over the city.
But the whole show falls right in line with the IWC ad campaign.

Oh yes, some were taken with a 18-250 lens. But a few merited the monster
150-500mm lens. I played around with aperture, speed and ISO but most shots were taken at 1/3200 of a second at full aperture and ISO of 200-400.

It is really hard to acquire a moving target at 500 mm when the camera lens weighs 5 pounds. But I started getting good at it. My arms hurt that evening from all the exercise. LOL

    Hi Alan,
Lucky you. Do you know who was flying F4 Phantom? I do not mean the name of the pilot, I mean the Air Force.

    Tony,
I just love this show. Magnificent vistas everywhere.
I believe the US Air Force flew this plane. It is used in target practice for new weapons systems. There are less than 80 left in service.
