    Afternoon all.

    I've recently purchased a IWC Portofino, I'd been keeping an eye out for a while and this one happened to become available fairly locally to me at a reasonable price. Upon first inspection, I saw nothing wrong with the piece, however, I have never seen the inside of this watch and therefore, I am not 100% certain that it is genuine. It was purchased from a fairly reputable dealer and as such, I can return the watch within a 30 day period for a full refund should I not be able to validate the authenticity.

    Aside from sending the watch to IWC for an inspection and a service, is there any other way of authenticating the watch, as sending it away will take far too long for me to return the watch within the 30 day period.

    To me (although admittedly entirely unqualified as this is my first IWC piece), the watch looks and feels genuine. It keeps great time and the only potential issues that I've spotted are;
    a) The power reserve doesn't seem to be anywhere near the 42hrs that I expected it to be. Perhaps the reserves on the slightly older pieces was a little less? And,
    b) The winding mechanism doesn't feel particularly smooth, it almost feels like there's too much friction when winding and feels slightly like it's grinding rather than a nice smooth wind.

    I have attached some recent photos of the piece that I hope will give an accurate representation for you to assess. Let me know what you think.

    Watch looks OK to me, on the power reserve and winding, maybe time for a service.
