First time posting, so hello to everyone.

I am no expert, but what caught my attention is the unusual horizontal position of sub-dials and I have never seen a left one with days on any IWC watch (I have been looking all over the internets including asking ChatGPT, but could not find any specific information).

This makes me think it is either some very rare custom made model or a blatant fake. Could you please share your thoughts?

    Thank you!

    Hello Baggins

Just two points to think about:

    - what should these pushers do? I can't see chronograph hands...

    - why should IWC write inteRAtional on the case back with a missing N? Is the watch especially expensive because of this fault? Like with faults on stamps...

It is more likely to be a badly done watch that tries to look similar to an IWC without even copying an exact model.

Thank you kindly for your prompt response, WIL MA. Much appreciated pointing out the obvious that I missed.

Sorry, this looks like a blatant fake.

I saw this at a vintage shop. Could you help identify if it is fake?

I agree the watch on the bracelet is NOT an authentic IWC.  Take care, remember you should buy the seller, not the watch. Make sure you know and can trust the seller.

Additional question: was there ever a model with sub-dials placed horizontally?

If it is just 2 sub-dials arranged horizontally that you are after, reference 5017 fits the bill. An iconic piece.

Yes, here are two IWCs with horizontal subdials:  The Portugieser and the DFB Big Pilot.
