Hi, I own a new 3717 pilot chrono. Day and date are noticeably misaligned, i.e. not centered in their respective windows. Has someone encountered this problem before? The watch has another problem - while the minutes accumulator has topped a 30 minutes count, the chrono's hours accumulator advances by approximately 15 minutes (hand is between two marks) after 4 to 5 hours. Is this normal?

    Thanks for your comments,

The misalignment of date and day I encountered often, on pictures. My own Pilot's Chrono has it on Saturday. I would like to have such an expensive watch to do this perfectly, but it would take an awful lot of work apparently. I was told that it can be corrected, though. In the end I don't care enough to get it repaired, I will say something about it when a huge service issue comes up.

My Ingenieur Automatic sometimes has a problem to show the date centered after date change, it needs a little push. My Portofino shows this all the time: every morning I wear the watch I pull the crown one position and help the date to get centered. You would almost think IWC has an issue with dates.

The problem with the hour accumulator of the Chrono, well, it didn't work right with me initially, I had to get it repaired. Losing the watch three weeks while it was new was not a terrific experience.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

GRI --I suggest you bring the watch back to the authorized dealer. They would need to physically evaluate the watch, and if necessary IWC can fix it under warranty.

    Good luck.

Thanks for sharing me your experience. I'll to say that I expected from an IWC watch much higher standard of precision. I have watches that cost 2% of my Fliegeruhr and perform better.

    Warm regards,

I had similar date misalignment issue with brand new Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days. Decided to send it for repair. The worst part of the story is that the local dealer claims the repair may take up to 7 months! I'd expect much shorter turnaround for the price |I paid... And I really miss my watch...

I have heard of the 7750 based movements having slight misalignment with the day/date. I was overly concerned when I received my Aquatimer Cousteau Divers after a several month wait (I purchased the watch from an AD before it was released). My watch appeared to have a slight misalignment with the day/date not lining up perfectly straight but over the years it has been lining up as I would like and I wonder if I was over-analytical at first. Chronograph issues, however, I would deal with right away and have it looked at so you still have warranty time left to make sure it is fixed.

I'd like to share with you the end of story, after some 7 months. The watch, 3717 pilot chrono, has been sent to service. Twice.
Actually, it was returned from the first service service cycle with new problems. I didn't even take the watch from the dealer - just left it there for another service cycle.
On the second service I have been told that the entire movement was replaced. Some of the problems are gone, others are still there. I have contacted the dealer where I purchased the watch (in a different country than where I live), and after a long negotiation, they agreed to replace the watch. When I arrived to make the change, I found out the new watch suffers from the same problems. I left it there, because I have left with only one month of warranty and became really tired of the whole thing.

Needless to say how disappointed and frustrated I am. It seems that IWC has serious quality and technical issues with this model. For me, it has been my first and last experience with IWC watches.

    Hi everyone,

I just bought my Pilot Chronograph.

I'm really happy with it but I also noticed that the day window starts
changing around 45 minutes before midnight. It his normal or should the change
in day and date happen instantly? Would you advise me to return the watch or
is this a common thing on IWCs? I never changed the date and time myself, I
bought the watch a few days ago and the time was set by the shop.

    Many thanks for any help.
