Hi...I own a Portuguese Chrono 371408 (with the Ardoise dial) and love it except for one problem...IN certain lighting (restaurants, lower levels of lighting) i have significant difficulty determining the precise time - i cannot make out the position of the hands on the dial. It has become so problematic that i have not been using the watch. Obviously my eyes hav a lot to do with it, but i also suspect that the dial and hands on this model do not seem to provide sufficient differentiation generally. However, recently i was excited to discover that the Yacht club with the same dial has wider hands and also lumina coating on the hands and hour makers (unlike my 371408). Can someone confirm, and that it is better than the 3714 and should be appreciably easier for me to see the position of the hands on the Yacht Club version of this dial? If so, i would consider trading mine in for the Yacht club. Thank you.

The Yacht Club makes a perfect read in any lighting conditions. This is the previous version. But the new one should be equal because the hands are nearly the same.

Sure. The reflective, polished hands and that sublime dial may make it difficult to read in certain conditions.

I welcome any opportunity that requires me to take extra care and duration to stare at that watch...

Congrats on your 3714 Ardoise. Nice one.

I wouldn't want it any other way. Happily, I only have two ardoise Portuguesiers but I have a couple of other watches in case I need to know what the time is.

Classy watch! I know of the problem with other watches too, but turning the wrist a bit, looking for a reflection on the hands, solves it most of the time. Admiring the end result is very rewarding then.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Thank you one and all for the insightful (and delightful!) comments. I too of course think it is the most stunning face on any watch today, hence that is why I am looking to "replace" it with the ardoise dialed Yacht Club to hopefully help these aging eyes! I will post the final outcome of my adventure.
