This watch is in good shape but it has an uncommon brass dial.

So, the magnetic protection is currently not availabe.

But I have also an authentic dial that will be mounted soon.

Good photo weather today, for the remaining Mark XI Fans on the Forum :-)

Hi can anybody help? I have a Mark X1 military watch with serial number 1243076 which I think dates the watch the watch to 1950. It is stamped on the bridge with the arrow. However, the case back is plain.

    Hi Heiko,
Several Mark 11 from 1948 were sold by the Mod without dial, when the Mark 11 was decommissioned after an honorable career with the Royal Air Force and the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy.
There are several theories to explain why these Mark 11 were sold without dial and how they ended up with the brass "white dial." There are also some with a brass 'black dial." They are both to be considered fake dials in otherwise genuine Mark 11.
Kudos for rescuing a Mark 10.5, and bring it back to full glory. Well done, as usual.

    Thanks for your opinion, Antonio.

Well, the Mark XI spec. includes antimagnetic up to 80.000 A/m.

But the brass dial does not fit this spec. => So, no authentic Mark XI with this dial from my point of view.

Due to this reason the current dial/hands will be changed soon.

BTW, we have had a local GTG with Jimmy last friday, including a lot of garlic :-)

Some stunning watches and he has checked this Mark XI.

    Regards

    Moin Hajo,

military watches as the Mark XI don´t get boring.

Didn't know that an early IWC Mk XI without shock Absorber exists besides the JLC Mk XI.

    Hi Hajo
The first 2,400 Mark 11 from 1948 all had cal. 89 movements made in 1947 without incabloc. There were two batches of cal 89 Angl. 1,200 each - 1,148,801 to 1,150,000 and 1,162,001 to 1,163,200.
There are, however, Mark 11 from 1948 with cal 89 with incabloc movement, because we suspect some movements were changed during regular maintenance at Herstmonceux.

BTW, let me know of the Hanover gtg in 2018. I may join you. :-)

    Hi Antònio,
Thanks for your info, obviously I have to read Thomas Koenigs Mk XI paper once again. ;-)
I will let you know when a GTG in Hanover planned/scheduled, will pick you up at the airport then. :)

    Good evening gentlemen,
as I told Heiko, all his watch needs is a correct dial and handset, both of which we have here in H-Town ;-)
It is a well known fact, who changed the dials and when, most of the information can be extracted from Thomas Koenigs essay.
The white dial Mk. 11 – theories and facts
    By Thomas Koenig
    March 2006
I have the essay on my hard drive, if anyone is interested...

As to our get together in Hannover, Heiko, another freind Dr Oliver L. and I meet fairly regularly, good food, interesting watches and first class conversation is always involved, an absolute pleasureable evening was always had...Now if Hajo and Tony wish to join us...the more the merrier!
and I will pick Tony up from the airport like the last time, only this time with his favoured Porsche, as the restoration has now been completed ;-)

    Dear all,
For Mark XI, may you shed some light on who to differentiate a movement of INCA and non-INCA?

  • Master

    Hi Shinn8

Incabloc is a patented shock absorption system to protect the pivot of the balance wheel.
No Incanloc can be identified by a solid jewel at the Balance.
With Incabloc, the jewel is held in a kind of cage, allowing it to float and protect the pivot and balance.
