First IWC purchase advice

Hi, I am new to the forum and was just looking for some buying advice if I may. 

I have been looking at the IWC Mark xx for a while now but with a 6 inch wrist I wondered if it may look too big on me? 

Which then led me down a rabbit hole leading to the beautiful Mark xvi, my questions regarding this are is it as well finished as the Mark xx given it was made almost 20 years prior? And although the design is more vintage will it look old on the wrist or not? I would be slightly nervous buying a watch of that age but if condition is immaculate it should be okay, right? 

Any insights on either or both would be hugely appreciated :)

Both the current Mark XX and the older Mark XVI are very robust, well-built watches. Good, solid craftsmanship from Schaffhausen. I wouldn't worry about the Mark XVI looking older, or "dated" as it seems these watches share a core design code and re-interpretations and tributes are plenty. The Mark XVI is just as valid now as the day it was launched. As Tonny mentioned, there are certainly advantages to buying new, and you can't argue with the advantages of IWC newest in-house movements. But if you like the size of the Mark XVI, it is an amazing watch, and available at a good price. Even a well-worn example will be returned to you from a complete service in almost-new condition, with a warranty to boot!

Hi Tonny, thanks for that insight. I was worried the older xvi been an early 2000’s release wouldn’t have quite the same high quality and finish to the aesthetic as the newest release so that’s good to know. Trying the xx on would be the port of call to see if it does fit my 6inch wrist. Wow 8 years that would certainly be worth doing if went the new route. Thanks again

Really great to hear the xvi will been of the same standard in terms of visual finishing and not looking visually 20 years old if it’s a good example or serviced/polished by IWC. The pro’s of the newer do sound great if my tiny wrist can accommodate it, next port of call will be to try one and go from there.
