    Hi

So after lots of thinking i bit the bullet and purchased a IWC Portuguese.

Just want to make sure it is genuine. I did buy it privately. Having doubts now. Though it came with books and warranty card.

Looks good to me, why are you worried?
Congratulations on a wonderful watch. Was my second in my collection.

Sometimes it is hard to tell by just looking at one picture on the internet. We don't know what the crown looks like, what does it look like on the side, the back and the movement inside, etc. etc.

Just from your photo of the front, it looks genuine enough.

From where did you buy it? was it too good a deal to be true? do you know the seller? has he been selling for a while and recognized/praised by people who have purchased from him before? Personally, all these questions should be asked well before you have made the purchase.

I would not worry too much about it. My advice to you is just to wear it and enjoy the experience.

it is quite impossible that a fake can be so well done, so wear your chrono in a good health and enjoy with it for long time

Just wrote this in your other threat:

That's how a Valjoux 79350 in an IWC 3714 watch should look like.
The case looks a bit used but that movement is a real good one!
The 3714 is a beautiful classic.

    Hi Tilo,

    Thanks for the reply.

Here is a photo of the inside of the back case.

The outside of the back should have "International Watch Co."
I remember the look of the inside. It looked identical. I opened mine one day too. But unfortunately I sold it before I had my first DigiCam in 2004.
So I don't have any pictures of that.
I have to admit, that I really appreciate the look of this 79350 movement. It might not be the most special, but it's a piece of watch history and excellent engineering. The decoration has a functional simplicity. I just love it.

Thanks for confirming Tilo. Everything looked legit till i saw the inside of the backcase and from some examples i saw online.

    Glad you could confirm this.

The back case does say International Watch Co.

It indeed is a nice piece of engineering and design.

I purchased my first IWC 5 years ago and might get a second one soon. My favorite summer watch is my little Mark XVI small pilot watch on a bracelet. I swim with it every day.

I'm thinking of getting a Timezoner pilot watch. I like the hour jump feature with a simple twist of the bezel combined with a chronograph but the watch' dimensions are a bit intimidating. Aside from the size and weight, the other issue that holds me back is the leather strap. I'm not a big fan of leather because those straps can get a little nasty after a few years if you get them wet (and replacements can be expensive). Are there nice nylon straps that could fit on the Timezoner?

Timezoner is a fabulous watch, and you will get used to the size.
Try the Milanese Bracelet on the Timezoner.

Thank you! That's a fantastic idea! The watch looks good on the brushed Milanese Bracelet.
