These old Hermit IWC watches are very special. That one with the Military
dial is especially beautiful! I think you have hit upon a special, but
    neglected IWC collectable market. Congratulations.

Beautiful, classic style IWC! I particularly like how the crown is recessed
into the case. A vintage case with a perfect size for contemporary tastes! And
it is so rare we get to see a vintage original black dial that hasn't been
retouched. Thank you for sharing those! I only wish I could find one, by which
time I would probably wish I could afford to obtain one.

What a beautiful watches Giuliano, thanks for sharing! Can you enlighten me
a bit on 'Hermit' cases?! I know I can 'Google' it, but collectors' stories
    are better I think ;-)

    Kind regards, Bob

To my knowledge the hermet case, has a tightly sealed case back, protecting it
    against humidity and dust.

Produced around the '40 fit a caliber 83. Mostly were made in case of 33 mm
and 36 mm, while only few were made in case of 38mm,

Only in this case ( 38 mm. ) the crown is recessed into the case.

Some have the word "hermet" engraved on the case back, but I have seen this
only in case of 33 and 36 mm.

    I hope this is helpful

Back to my previous post, to be more correct, not all the "Hermet" watches
    were fitted with cal. 83.

Honestly I don't know what other calibers were used, for sure some watches
    were fitted with cal. 61.

Thanks Giuliano, and my stupid question is: what does Hermet mean? Was it a
    retailer or??

    Hi Bob,

Here it means 'hermetical' in the sense of hermetically closed.

    Adrian,

Thanks Adrian, more or less like 'Oyster' to be used by Rolex when they
    invented waterproof cases?!

Well Bob, the term 'hermetically' was more applicable for 'dust proof' than
    for 'water proof'.

The military version of cal. 83, ordered by the British Ministery of Defense
was one of the so called 'dirty dozen'.

Among the 12 brands, IWC was the only watch with a snap-on case back, while
the other had a screwed case back. IWC tried to make the case water proof by
using a string of lead that was pressed between the case and the back lid but
I guess it could not stop the entrance of water once it had been opened.I have
    never seen such lead seal.

    Regards,

    Adrian,

    (alwaysiwc).
