the effort for focus stacking is
    worthwhile.

My past attempt with image stacking using Helicon Focus. The challenge was
getting the proper foucs for both the watch and the fighter plane. Adjusting
my f stop was not working so I used image stacking. I keep trying and
learning. I had to hack the movement to stop the seconds hand that would get
blurred as it moved across some 15 images that were stacked. This is a low
resolution copy. The focus stacked TIFF file is huge, 150 mb.

    Interesting work, congratulation.

But for me the stacking leads to pictures similar to tha rendered pictures in
    new catalogs 100% sharp.

For me as (old, born analaog) photographer the depth of focus is an optical
effect to play with, not to get rid off.

    But everybody has his preferences.

(A fast trial ,not very sophisticated, to show the mysique of unsharpness)

    Kind regards

    Ralph

    @ BILL B.

Well, these static motives - like watches - are easy to handle, but I prefere
    dynamic motives like this.

It is quite a challange to get a usefull stack of a dragenfly. I prefer manual
lenses with Leica M-Mount and my stacking tool is Affinity Photo. Stacking
TIFFs up to 250 mb are usual.
