    Interesting read. I only wish that napkin had survived- it should be in the museum in Schaffhausen.

    That's a very nice article, Michael! I've always been a fan of the Portofino and it is my "go to" dress watch!

    Thank you very much for the article!
    I bought myself a Portofino watch about six months ago an it works just fine. Visited the place about 20 years ago and tried to go there last June on a Sunday morning, but it was impossible to get into town because of all the tourists.

    Portofino is a great line of watches that are elegant and have a nice classic look. Great additions to the catalogue.

    I love these historical pieces. My first IWC watch that also broke the 4-digit dollar figure for me was an Iwc Portofino, Circa 1999. At that time I promised my wife that it was the only watch I'd need for the rest of my life.

    Thanks MF, I didn't know about the 'Giant Portofino', but it has sent my heart racing.
