As many of you may have noticed, I published on the forum today an article entitled F.A. Jones: The Man and the Mystery. This actually is part of a larger plan to significantly increase forum content, with exclusive information not generally available elsewhere. We've formed a team to write articles frequently, consisting of me, David Seyffer from the Museum and a technical watch expert from Zurich.

To that end, we'd like your input on topics for articles. We have a series of suggestions, and would like you to tell us which ideas you like and how much. You can also post ideas for, or add them as a note to the survey which will be available for about two weeks.

To participate in the survey, please click here.

    Thanks --very much!

Thank you Michael and all, an easily followed chronology and the very foundation we need to appreciate IWC. Very enjoyable!

Done too. It's nice to see that most topics are of technical nature. I miss those also after that IWC magazine has turned into an IWC catalogue.
    Best regards

Thanks and done. Could be an interesting project.

Maybe it helps to turn the "club" to a forum again ?!

    Tony, Hebe, and all--

Yes, the idea is based on a strategy, properly grounded in my opinion, to emphasize more technical issues, both in general relative to marketing and particularly relative to this forum. IWC has many strengths, but it is a great manufacture with outstanding technical skills, and that will be emphasized more.

In my view there are now many social media channels --for IWC generally and also competing venues to this forum. This forum has the unique strength to deal best with these "serious" topics, and provide in-depth reports and discussions on these issues. We have all of IWC at our disposal, and that provides a real competitive advantage.

The initial idea will be that there will be about two of these articles a month, plus of course the ensuing discussions that will result from them. I believe that word of this approach will spread, and attract new audience and participation.

I'd like to take credit for the survey, but the idea was proposed by Goris Verburg, the new director of marketing when he and I met about a month ago. Several of the topics were proposed by me during our discussions, but most came from people at IWC. He also proposed the survey, which I greatly seconded and in fact hope to have more in the future. The survey then was actually developed in Schaffhausen, and I just posted it.

But --the idea is that the forum is very important to IWC and will be re-emphasized greatly in the coming months. I think you'll like where we're going.

Good initiative! The fora I know, including this IWC forum, are becoming a bit less lively lately, so a push is useful. I guess I voted the desired way yesterday, emphasising the more technical issues, including suggesting some other technical topics, and voting down any human interest, like topics on famous designers and CEO's. The challenge will be to bridge the knowledge gap between the IWC professionals, our heroes, and most of us, me, that may hardly have a clue what stuff is needed to build a power reserve indicator, for instance, and how and why it functions anyway. Knowing a bit more about it is nice, and I hope to contribute to the ensuing discussions in a better way than stating that I like the colour of the dial, which I did too often already. So, I am looking forward to the fruits of this initiative!

    Kind regards,
    Paul
