My less than 1 year old Portofino Automatic gains 30 seconds per day. At the IWC store in Beijing I was told this would be norma and within the tolerance. Is this correct? What are the experiences of other Portofino owners?

Any IWC watch is considered to run between 0 and +7 seconds a day, most do. Your IWC store (Authorized Dealer?) should know this and help you accordingly. Alas, we read more service stories of IWC from Eastern Asia that leave something to be desired. Good luck!
Kind regards,
Paul
Unfortunately, the mindset of the Chinese is sell! sell! sell! Don't accept their excuses. 30secs a day is abnormal even with running-in a new movement factored into the equation.
Thanks for your information! I bought the watch at an authorised retailer in Germany. As I moved to Beijing this year, I went to the IWC flagship store there. If IWC in China does not want to fix it, I will take the watch to an IWC service centre in Europe.
My IW356501 Portofino runs currently about 1 second fast per 24 h,
so far this month 32 seconds. For October this year a total of 5 seconds ahead.

That sounds great! Has the watch been this accurate from the beginning on?
There is a same / similar thread over on WUS which a poster commented that there is quite a major difference (5 secs per day) between storing your watch dial up vs crown up. I'll be storing my watch with crown up to trial I think.
Almost.
