No, we didn’t get winter weather. We have been enjoying a wonderful Spring, with flowers and trees blooming beautifully. So what’s up with Frosty?

When I first saw pictures of the white Aquatimer 2000 last Fall and Winter, the bright white expanses of the dial, markers, hands, and date wheel reminded me of the ice and snow that fell in far greater quantities than usual this past winter.

It always brought to mind a scene from Dr. Zhivago.

Quite a chunky beast, and surprisingly heavy, especially since I bought it on bracelet. I greatly prefer sporty watches to be on bracelets, and I really don’t care for rubber straps.

It feels a bit top heavy. That could be because I still need to adjust the bracelet slightly. Also, the two watches I have worn most frequently recently are the thin and comfortable Pisa Portugieser and a rather light titanium 3536 Aquatimer.

I really like the redesigned bracelet, which I find to be far more appealing than the older GST bracelets. I suppose the polished center links are likely to be scratch magnets, but those will be badges of honor and I know IWC can always make it look new

Adding a ½ link is a great improvement. I may have forgotten, but I don’t remember them being there on my several pilot watch bracelets or my GST’s.

Thank you thank you, IWC, for that great little yellow tip on the second hand.

If I get used to the thickness and weight, “Frosty” will get a lot of wear, probably alternating with “Plain Jane” (my Pisa Portugieser)

I’m happy to have finally joined the large fan club for this model!

    Funny thing, Argiris.......

I have owned many many sporty IWC watches, including a range pilot watches (Mark XV, 3706, 3786, St Exupery's, 3717, etc), GST's, several generations of Aquatimers, and a 3227 Ingenieur. Ironically, my IWC's recently had changed to all Portuguesers and Portofinos. Then the Aquatimer 2000.

I guess the bottom line is, I just love IWC's! Almost all of them!

    Congratulations!

Lovely watch indeed. I remember very well that you don't like rubber bands. I recognized you in Schaffhausen before the Collectors Meeting 2007 because you were wearing the Cousteau Aquatimer on a bracelet :-)

Enjoy your new watch and wear it in good health.

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

I really do not understand the white dial phenomenon? Perhaps you could elaborate on it.

I suppose everyone's individual reasons reflect

their own taste and will be different.

The most significant thing for me is that I never liked the black and yellow color scheme - not on the earlier AT's and not on the current black dial model.

I liked the super clean, crisp look of the white as soon as I saw it. It just struck me as icy cool, yet still highly legible - as refreshing as a nice cold beer on a hot Summer day. When I saw it, all I could think of was the ice palace scene from Dr. Zhivago.

Thus, white over black dial was an easy choice for me.

Anyone else care to chime in?

Yes indeed. There is something about the dial...

which just grabs my attention. Instantly legible, day or night. And the ceramic bezel fascinates me in that it glows a completely different color in the dark. This is one of IWC's least expensive watches but it represents excellent design. I find myself wearing it as much or more than any other watch including my BPP.
