Hi. I recently got this watch from my father in law. While I know he can easily afford to purchase a IWC, I don't see him discarding it so effortlessly. I am not very familiar with the brand so I tried to look up the model online. It has a similar look to a Big Pilot, but the face and dials are different. This is why I am guessing it is a fake. I would appreciate it if anyone has any insight. Thanks.

Hmm, a fake given to you by your father in law. It makes me wonder if he knew. You might ask him: a given horse is not to be looked into the mouth, but if somebody would give me a fake I would be less than grateful, I would feel offended. I probably would say so, to make sure I would not get such a "gift" in the future.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

That is about the lousiest fake I've ever seen. If it happened to me, I'd buy dear old father-in-law an awful fake Rolex for his birthday.

I'd show this to your wife. See if she is pleased that her Dad is dishing out a fake. I would prefer a real watch like a Citizen or Seiko even if Quartz to a fake whatever. Fakes are fakes and if the donor knows then I for one would think that the donor thinks you'd be happy with a fake or that you and a fake go together. Ask your wife whether she wants to wear fake perfume.
