going to graduate in 3 months and have more pressing issues with my thesis and exams but i still find it really hard to decide between the Portuguese chronograph and the Pilot's Watch chronograph. Any comments??

Really am excited to get my first IWC when i graduate, been reading all the reviews and i am really in love with both this watch.

    It's up to you....

but if my opinion can contribute to clear up your choice: if I have to choose a chrono, between these, I'd choose the pilot because I like better the Portuguese in the Port. Auto. model.

    Just my two cents,
    M

    Both nice watches..

Did you try them both? They are quite different. The Portuguese Chrono doesn't have a date window but it has a more balanced, dressy look The chrono counter only allows you to time intervals up to 30 minutes. The Pilot's Chrono is more sporty, has a day/date window and a chrono that can measure up to 12 hours.

My personal choice would be the Pilot's Chrono but it's still up to you.

Kind regards and keep us posted

(oh, and make sure you graduate first :-)

    Pilot chrono

The Pilot Chrono is a bit more sporty, and has a date and day. Being your age, which I estimate at about 25 years, that would do it for me. There is plenty of time left to wear dressy watches.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Portuguese, dressy, but also a bit sporty

    My little experience

When I bought my first IWC I had the same dilemma.

I entered into the AD and asked for the Portoguese chrono, I just couldn't take my eyes off of it.

The shop assistant, probably because I aroused some tenderness to her, wanted me to try the flieger too.

It took few seconds to me to choose between the two and so I decided for the Portoguese. Later on, I bought the flieger too but that's another story.

The flieger is gorgeous but Portoguese chrono is probably a better start since it has everything to become your one and only IWC/watch or the premise for a great start in the world of watchmaking.

    My little and humble experience.

    Best wishes for your graduation.

    My little experience

    Roberto,

that has really crossed my mind..first IWC make it a good Portoguese and later i still can buy the Pilot Chrono again... or another brand.

    Thanks,

    A great choice anyway

I own(ed) them both. They're both great. If somebody paid the bill maybe I would have started with the Portuguese as well.

9 years ago I started with a Mark XV on strap. Then bought the bracelet. Half a year later bought the Portuguese chronograph and another year later the UTC.
Then ended up selling the three and getting the Portuguese Automatic 500107 and later the Pilots' chrono 3717 strap and bracelet.

With my experience I'd take the 3717 on bracelet and wait for the Portuguese 500107 later to come. But as a starter as mentioned above the Portuguese is a great choice too. Anyway: you can't decide wrong here.

And be sure to thank the spenders ...

yea i will sure thank the spenders..but i feel the chrono pilot look younger and well wouldnt hurt the spender so much... so i feel i will be going for that more... thanks but the portugese is still in my sight and that would be for later...
