    Hi everyone,

    My name is Sylvain,
I'm the new owner of a Vintage IWC.
    What i do know ?
It's a 1950's IWC with Bombay lug and even dial.
It's an automatic winding watch certainly a 852 calibre but i'm not sure.

    My question ?

Do you know more about this watch ?
The opening is made by the glass side ?
    The buckle is not original
and i'd like to get one for it. What was the buckle design on this watch ?

    Hi Sylvain,

    Welcome to the Forum.

I suspect your watch is a Ref 583 and as shown in the following composite image, the left with automatic on the dial the right without. Your dial appears similar to the dial on the right.

When you have it serviced, have the watchmaker record the movement details and number as well as the case number to allow an estimated production date.

    Cheers from the cellar

Yes thanks you, it look really the same.
Do you know how the buckle look like at that time ?
I have to change the band and would like to give it an original one.

I will let you know the number when i will have it serviced.

very nice piece indeed and great to hear you wish to get it back to original strap and buckle.

Do post the additional information when you have it (post service) - also ask the watchmaker to take photos of the case back inside and the movement.

    Hi Sylvain,

I've attached the image originally from IWC References Before 1974 by Christian Niemann (the link is not working) that shows the Ref 583 and other watches on the same page. I would try and find one of the buckles shown and add a good leather strap.
