Hi All, I am completely new to IWC as all my research has been on Omega for the past couple of months.

Someone is offering me a watch, and I'm not sure if it is a good buy. I'm looking for a gift for my boyfriends bday. I'd like to start off his vintage collection with something special.

"ref 910 A. Calibre 8541, automatic with date. It´s from 1965, according to the serial of the case and the movement"

Can I get some input on the attached watch?

    Thank you!!!

This is the preferred and easiest method:

I believe any vintage collector would be happy to,start with this one. There is even one collector on the forum that has his forum name similar to this cal. 8541, one of the finest workhouses in the IWC history. Go for it.

I'm a bit confused... I read an article that says ref. 910A = New reference 1910, but it also says that 910A means automatic and that 910AD means auto with date.

This watch is 910A but it has a date, so should I be referring to the new ref. 1910 or the new reference 1810??

    Any ideas?

Also, does anyone know if this is a 14K or 18k?

Ok, through researching I think I have figured out that it is now a ref. 1810.

But I just want to know the jewel count (and if these are rubies) and if the solid gold on top is 14k or 18k

Lastly, does anyone have recommendations as to where I can get a nice IWC strap or buckle??

    Hi
I hope someone can help me out. I am new to this forum and I got the Portuguese Chronograph from my father ,)

The leather band is old and I want to replace it. It has deployment claps.
A friend of mine has this leather strap seen and suggested to me. But before I buy I wanted to check if it would work with this watch and the dimensions are different.
I googled this code and it says for Portofino. IWA20078

would it work? It has a good price thats why I ask :)

    Thanks a lot
