I was recently given a watch passed down from my father after he passed away, however I have not been able to find information on it. I believe it is from the Portofino line it is all stainless 3 knobs on right side of watch black face and shows only the day of date between the 4 & 5 it has a number stamped on back 2720959. Can you please help me identify this watch so I can learn about it Thank You

    Hi,

Hazarding a guess, would this watch have been purchased around mid-late 90s ?

Pics would help, if u could share them here on this forum.

    Erstwhile, these too can assist:
DateYourIWC by case and movement number (I prefer the applet version at the bottom)
    Vintage Catalogs
Instructions found here on how you can also order an extract from IWC archives to verify authenticity.

    To post pics:
Picture Uploading - A Snappy Guide

Quick Step One: most people sign up for a free host at www.photobucket.com
Quick Step Two: Upload your pic, preferably in 640x480 size
Quick Step Three: Look for this box below and click on the URL beside IMG Code, and paste it directly in ‘Your Comment’ box when writing a new comment in the forum.

Quick Step Four: check, check, check that you have successfully uploaded the pic (like I have done with the image directly above :) by using the preview button i.e. clicking on the ‘tick’, just above the ‘Your Comment’ box. And you’re done !

If you are still facing issues, kindly consult this earlier discussion with clearer and more in depth instructions by two esteemed members.

    Alespi,

I may have lead you down the wrong path, as your Portofino is probably newer that I assumed it to be. The links I posted were more for older IWCs.

The IWC Workbook helped me locate these, so do give a shout out if any of them look familiar.

Thank You Shing for all the valuable information my watch resembles the lower of the two pics you have provided however there are some differences on the face of the watch. As per the year or when around I have no clue, the face of the watch has a triangle @ 12 location and has the #'s 1 2 4 5 7 8 10 11 small squares @ 3 6 & 9 locations and the day screen for the date is squared white background with black numbering.

Found it Shing! It is model # 3741-002 now learning how to wind. Do you by any chance know where I can go to get extension links for the stainless steel wrist strap?

    Err --you don't wind a 3741. It's mecaquartz, and uses a battery.

For bracelet parts, you might wnat to see if IWC can help (through an authorized dealer).
