I am a recent visitor to the world of beautiful watches and an aunt of mine
has a small collection which we know
absolutely
nothing about other than they were her late husband's. One watch she showed me
particularly caught my attention, can anybody help us out on the model and
approximate age?

MasterWithout knowing the serial numbers, which are on the inside, it is difficult
to put a definitive date to the watch.But, it is either a Caliber 83 or 88 which were produced as follows:
Cal 83 from 1930 to 1947
Cal 88 from 1946 to 1964

You won't be able to see the Serial Numbers without opening the case.
Unless you have done this before, I would not recommend it, this should be
done by a watchmaker.
