What you have here Gomes is a beautiful IWC Cal 83 produced in 1942 and cased
    around 1944.

    The bracelet is spectacular!!!

I'm not sure if it is original to the watch, but it fits perfectly and
    certainly enhances the watch too

I would suggest you replace the crystal before it disintegrats, leaving the
hands and dial exposed and vulnerable to damage.
After 4 generations, this watch also deserves a service, which will make it
    good for another 50 years.....

IWC can do it and make the watch as new if you wish. But the price might
superseed the value of the watch.

However there is a perfect alternative as Mark suggests. Many collectors would
like to keep the watch as original as possible : no polishment, or replacement
of dial, hands etc. In that way the watch keeps it 'family' look. Of course a
general service must be done and the crystal must be renewed. The work can be
done by a competent watchmaker in Portugal. If you cannot find one, an IWC
dealer can probably direct you. The price will be a fraction of the Spa
treatment that the IWC magical watchmakers will calculate.
