Hi, these two dials have come into my possession via a good friend who won them in a recent watchmaker's estate auction. I am hoping a forum member can help me account for the differences on the back of the dials.  As you can see, one has a number series while the other has a sterile back. Perhaps different factories or sterile back civilian dials?  Any thoughts as to the differences? Any red flags as to authenticity if it is a sterile back?

    Dear John

Dial B is no civilian dial, but Royal Australian Air Force.

To judge on dial A is hard without having it in flesh in hand or at least having high res pics of front and back. Did you check the thickness and whether or not it is soft iron?

    Thank you, Thomas.

I very much appreciate your response as to these dials.

Using a simple magnetic test, I would say they are soft iron and dial thickness consistent at 1mm.

    Many thanks

    John
