The Christmas present for my wife arrived yesterday, an IWC ref 2620.

This is a rare limited edition, made in 150 pieces, with a manual caliber ( cal 88 I believe ).

Is nice in combination with the ref 1850, a watch made to celebrate/honour the last production of the famous cal 8541. It came in yellow gold and in a limited edition in white gold with a special presentation box with spare parts.

I have the yellow gold one.

I love the hinged back, open it and you can see the nice cal 8541.

    Beautiful watch.
Do you keep the patina or do you send it for service?

The combination with the ref 1850 is just amazing, especially with the history behind the cal 8541. I’m sure your wife will love it, and I can totally imagine how stunning that hinged back is in person

Wow, what an incredible and thoughtful gift, Tonny! The ref 2620 is not just any ordinary timepiece, but a truly rare and special one, especially with it being a limited edition with only 150 pieces. I can only imagine how meaningful it must be to have such a rare and collectible watch, especially one that combines both exceptional craftsmanship and historical significance. The manual caliber, Cal 88, adds a beautiful touch of traditional watchmaking, and the way you’ve paired it with the ref 1850 really elevates the collection.

The ref 1850 is equally stunning, especially given its connection to the legendary Cal 8541. The history behind that caliber really makes the piece even more unique, and I can only imagine how special it feels to own the yellow gold version, particularly with the hinged back that allows you to admire the intricate workings of the Cal 8541. There’s something so magical about being able to open the back of the watch and truly appreciate the movement inside—such a beautiful display of craftsmanship.

I can tell how much passion and care you’ve put into collecting these pieces, and I have no doubt your wife will be over the moon with this amazing Christmas present. The combination of history, rarity, and elegance in these two watches is truly something to be cherished for years to come.

Your collection is an inspiration, and it’s clear that you have a deep appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship behind these exceptional timepieces. I hope you both enjoy these beautiful watches and all the moments that come with them. 😊
