HOUSTON WE HAVE A SPLIT MINUTE AT PROBLEM (the whole story)

As some of you know, aquatimers are my favorite IWC. My holy grail is the deep one, but that is very hard to find, and in the meantime I set my mind on an excellent alternative: the split minute chrono..
After chasing one, witch apeared to be stolen and obviously I didn’t purchased it. Then another one presented itselves in MOSCOW. I though to get it send to me,but they didn’t ship abroad.. I did not feel the need to go to russia again, because my latest trip to tetjenie to climb mount Elbrus was a failure If I had known that the watch was in Moskou (we spend some time there afterwards) the trip could have been saved (at leest I would have had a watch as a “high-light”). But then Spain (Barcelona) presented itselves, with a Nice NOS splitminute with extra rubber strap in original box to (is on eBay already, I don’t keep boxes, as intimi know). So I phoned the AD and bought it inmediately.
It arrived was in pristine condition but......
The spit minute was not functioning.
FedEx transportation dammaged the watch. After contacting Spain (I have a year garantee on the watch), they checked the watch and it left them in good working condition. They asked to send it back to have a look at it, and have it repaired by their watchmakers. I didn’t like the idea to send it back by FedEx and risk the same issues after repairs. If it came back damaged again, there would be no end to it...
So I brought it to amsterdam IWC Boutique instead and asked William Ko to give it to the watchmakers of richemond to have a look.
Peter van Dijk confirmed my findings and put it on writing for me to inform Spain. International Policy of IWC is that all repairs should be Done in Schaffhausen by their watchmakers. So for Spain this should be the procedure as well. They had to send it to Zwitserland as well in my opinion. But the seller did not agree..
after long phonecalls they agreed to a full Spa at Schaffhausen.
But the estimated costs calculated by Richemond were too high..
——HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM—- something about profit and an insurace for shipments lost, not damaging....
I settled for €400,- (half of the price of a full Spa) Hopefully it status at that price, and I can show a prestine watch at the annual BBGTGADAM in june.

Hi Bas, I love the split-minute and it represents a lot of IWC' best to me: Titanium, black/white/yellow, 'old' IWC style design etc.

Shame it was not working, on the other hand, for the extra euro's you'll have it back as new with 2 years warranty ;-)

Can't wait for your pictures or to see it in June!
