I'm 55 years old and never owned or worn a watch. Always admired others. 2 years ago I saw an ad for "The limited Big Pilot's Watch Edition DFB will accompany Germany's best footballers in their attempt to lift the EURO 2012 trophy". Nicest watch I have ever seen. I played soccer and so did my son. Today I found one and without hesitation bought it. I am proud to say it will never see another family except ours. Best watch Ever!

When I was around 10 years old in 1970, I suddenly became interested in watches. 44 years later and still fascinated.

I started when in Japan they released a watch that can connect with your friends watch via IR, play games on it etc. Then it moved onto a GSHOCK,, and when I was 18 I got my first Rolex, which I still have. After 10 years, I decided to get another watch and thats when I really started reading into everything. I havnt looked back yet ever since :) My latest being an IWC Chronograph :)

From 12 yo going into the big city and buying watches with my birthday money, then taking them apart. Soon stopped that couldn't put them back together. Then 20 years later saw an Omega ex army issue very plain white dial. It just spoke to me so I bought it. Some 22 years later now with 42 watches across a wide array of manufacturers inc IWC, JLC, Patek, VC, Rolex, Chopard. Very eccentric mix from dress to diver to pilot. Dating 1920's to 2014 all mechanical except for one Breitling to be delivered in 6 weeks. For me the pleasure of ownership is uttermost in my collection. All my watches talk to me giving me immense pleasure when wearing them.

My grandfather gave me a MK11 when I was a small child 20 years ago. Just found it few month ago...I have started my research and now I know what a rarity I have in my hand...I'm totally addicted to my "new" MK11 RAF from 1951.

My father gave me a C.8541 Ref 910A "Automatic" in 1967; i think it was partly an ironic reference to work I was doing while in university with extremely accurate timekeeping for satellite tracking. He bought a C.8541 Ref 800A "Automatic Deluxe" for himself at the same time. The 910 has been my daily-wear watch since, except for a tune-up in Schaffhausen. The 800 is now in my possession, and I'm looking out for a Ref 1850. I also have a Ref 3750.

    Hello,
That's my first speech in this forum!
My passion for watches was began in 2005 when I was eight and when my father took me to Patek Philippe museum in Geneve.
Then growing up I arrived today,I study at school now, but i'd like to study in future at school watchmakers in Switzerland. I'd like to become a shop assistant in a Watch shop for example in Milan or in another city in Europe. I love this world!

I'm from Italy... sorry for my simple english-

For me, it came when I obtained a pre-WWII Bulova and opened the case back to research the model. I was amazed at the detail and workmanship, and I have appreciated finely made mechanical watches ever since.

I have nothing against modern watches, but I must admit that I have a greater appreciation for vintage watches. They've withstood the test of time - some better than others - and the age and styling just appeal more to me. Equally, while I can truly appreciate the craftsmanship of today's larger watches, I still prefer the smaller sized watches of the past.
