I've been into watches since I learned to tell time. I bought my first mechanical watch in 2010. I still have it and wear it often. It's a Montblanc Timewalker.
Have recently got my flieger back from an insurance repaup.by IWC to find it looks great but is running 5 mins fast daily. After correction it seems to gain very slowly thsn speed up. Would appreciate advice.
Just bought a chronograph automatic, ref no. 385881. I don't know whether it's genuine or fake. Need help. How can I upload the picture of the same watch?
when I was living in London, on my way to work I used to walk by David M Robinson shop which has all the nice watches. But one time piece that always caught my attention was the pilot Mark (dont remember which model was that exactly but this is back in 20017/2008) with leather strap. And I was just too attracted to the simplicity yet the stylishness of the watch. No gimmicks, no chronograph just a simple watch that looks great. And then I started to look in to watches more and more and since I have been very much in the mechanical watches. I am really fascinated how complications and accuracy is achieved just by mechanical parts!
I play the saxophone with "Supertramp" and, during our 1997 tour, I scoured fine watch shops throughout Europe for a suitable replacement to supersede my Rolex day-date timepiece. I eventually chose a stainless steel IWC Pilots MkXII with a bracelet (and a matching smaller one for my wife) Totally enamoured of these watches, I engineered a Factory visit in 2004, I think, only to be greeted at the entrance by a certain Georges Kern, who gave us the tour personally, and took us to lunch! Thus a relationship was born, with my attending almost all (and playing several times) the Geneva SIHH IWC soirées since that time. Georges seems to think that I am an expert on mechanical timepieces, as he has donated several fine IWCs to the expanding Helliwell collection! They are, indeed, absolutely superb timepieces.
