Beautiful watch and a date change at 11.56 is excellent. Dates can change from 5 mins before 12 and up to 15 to 20 mins after 12.

Now regarding your question. This refers to using the quick date set feature(1st crown position)which must not be used between 9pm and 2am. This refers only to the quick date set. You can ALWAYS change the date by advancing the hands in the time setting position ie 2nd crown position.

My love for watch started when my deceased father bought me a Seiko diver as my 18th birthday gift. It is still my favorite one, while I have a few other luxury watches. I will be happy to pay any money to get the Seiko perfectly repaired and maintained, so I can remember my father and his love for me. I love you, Dad.

Some years ago I was very interested in Astronomy and I built a Scmith Cassegrain Telescope that had a 12 inch diameter main mirror.

I understood the Sidereal Time quite well. When the time came to build the mount for My Telescope which was very heavy, I thought the mecanism was very similar to a Mechanical watch.

I bought a Book on Horology and then was when I guess I feel in love with Mechanical Movements.

Years pased and I soled My Schmith Cassegrain Telescope and began collecting antique and vintage Pocket Watches...

I have always been interested in items that combine the best of technology with art, function and style combined. The idea of someone hammering out a metal ore, filing notches into gears, heat treating a strip of metal to become a spring, gem stones polished to be bearings, connected to a self winding apparatus and hands to keep time, and all mathematically precise so as to keep time accurately, and this incased in a silver or gold body and glass with leather strap to look beautiful on the wrist. Amazing really.

I had been buying and wearing Citizen and Seiko watches my whole life until a few years ago. I began spending a lot of time in Kuwait, and at the Avenues Mall in Kuwait City, I walked into a watch boutique that carried IWC and many other high end brands. I now have 7 IWC watches and a Baume&Mercier and a JLC. I love mechanical watches.

As soon as I remember I was always captivated by the fine mechanisms. However, for a long time I was wearing quartz watches. I still like them. They are cheap, reliable (some of them are almost indestructible) and extremely accurate (even the cheapest ones). But then about 8 years ago I was walking in Birmingham city center and saw the watch that immediately attracted my attention (basically I felt in love with it at the first site). It was the IW500107 (sadly way out of my league then). After that I started reading about mechanical watches, different mechanisms and brands. It became a hobby of a lifetime. Once you've started you can't stop :)! I think that the most of the members of this forum will agree with me. I had several mechanical watches since (every time more expensive and more respected brand: Tag Heuer, Omega, Rolex). But every time I saw Portuguese Automatic I couldn't stop watching at it. And then 3 years ago I accumulated enough funds to buy one. It has been almost constantly on my wrist since. And yet every time I put it on it makes me smile. Truly amazing watch.
