Recently bought an iwc second hand flieger chronograph. I think it is a 3706.The number on the back is 2928476. It's the first one I've owned and I know little about it.

I think my first post is a question rather than comment. Have always had an interest in flying ,used to work for BOAC,I had a Lemania pilot watch which I sold to get enough money for this IWC.It's a beautiful watch and I love wearing it.

    Hi 99BEEJAY
Lovely watch the Lemania - I'm a great fan but 3706 is special too!
A Big Welcome to the Forum and a very nice piece you chose for your entry. It was 3706 that made me fall for the IWC brand in a big way.

    Some info for you -
3706 was the Pilot chronograph "Der Flieger Chronograph" that was paired with the Mark XV.
Produced from 1994 to 2005 when it was replaced by 3717. You can try to check the production date of your iwc through this website, www.moeb.ch/dyIWC/
And another that is very useful: www.fliegeruhr.ch/3706.htm

    Now let's see a wristshot :-)

Thanks for that and the website. I have a few questions about the watch, do I use this section or some other part of the forum? Also would send a picture but don't know how.

My love and fascination started by hearing the sound of the mechanical watch of my grandfather.

Tom Cruise picking up his MARK XVI in Vanilla Sky form his bedside locker sparked my interest in the brand, seeing the 3717 made me really like the brand, wearing my 3777 made me fall in love with the brand.... And the affair continues

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum since today. I have been interessted in IWC timepieces since I was 12.

During the winter we always went to Switserland and visited my aunt and uncle who lived in Therwill close to Basel. He had an IWC watch. I remember very clearly that is was the first time I saw a sweepinghand and I was very fascinated with that watch. It was a regular steel one from the 1960's but very elegant and nice. That was for me the direct reason to start getting into watches in general and ofcourse in the watches from IWC.

As I was getting more and more into watches I decided that would like to own an IWC because it was the reason for me to get into the watch world. I decided to save up for the Vintage Collection Portofino in steel Ref 5448. It is a pretty large watch , but it is so perfectly done and classic. I really like that watch. It was pretty clear for me that I am really into the Vinateg Collection and after some time , I decided to also purchase the Ingenieur Ref 3233.

I am a pretty young collector so I think this is a nice beginning of starting to collect these very nice watches. Like I said , I already have a passion for IWC for 7 years now and I still really love the pretty watches.

I hope at some time in the future , I will expand my IWC collection a little bit more.

Have a lovely day everyone and enjoy your watches in the best of health.

    Koen Simon

It started with my father I began to be interested in his watches. My first watch has been a Panerai and I would like to have one IWC soon, probably of the portugieser collection.

    Hello!!
I'm writing this message with huge excitement because I have got IWC Ocean RacerIW390216Since I have found Yacht Club for 4 or 5 years ago, this watch has been my life time goal (I wouldn't exaggerate this), and I even went to Schaffhausen last year to buy one, but at the time I was stupid enough to go there on holiday.... however, this watch was available in Tokyo where I'm living, so finally I got this. Sorry for my poor english, but I just want to let people know there is huge IWC fan here in Japan also. My grandfather also had one, and he bought IWC to my mon, so IWC is something very special for my family, and I even feel I am proud of myself to buy this for myself.
I use this with rubber belt so as for daily use, maybe I use lether belt for more like business occasion. The size is kinda big for my skinny arm, but this will stay on my arm for good!!
Again, I would like to express this great excitement and appreciation for this timepiece, and let everyone know there are huge fans for IWC from my grandfather, mother and myself.

Great to see how Japanese IWC enthusiasm is expressed. The Yacht Club Ocean Racer is a fantastic piece that is highly admirable. Welcome Hiroki

For me it all started when I came across the life story of Abraham Emanuel Breguet. That really was the point of no return. After that the intricate works of High Horology became a passion. Reading about it and when I could, owning some pieces I could afford ofcourse.

I got interested in watches many years ago while I was studying for a year at the ETH in Zurich. For fun my wife and I would often walk up and down the Bahnhofstrasse window shopping, and soon enough decided for ourselves which watches were the most admirable. My wife loved a severely classic, frill-free, gold Patek Philippe. I preferred almost any IWC. We spent all of our extra money on her watch, which in 1968 seemed like very much more than it does today. I have made do with other watches until last month when, finally, I bought myself a previously owned Portuguese "F. A. Jones." It is clear it has been well used since its original purchase in 2006, but it is keeping time within two seconds a day and amusing me every minute of the way.

When I was seven years old, my grandmother's friend gave me a beautiful pocket watch that no longer worked. I always treasured it (and still have it). Forward to about the time I was 18 years old, I stumbled on some watch books at the public library. I was finally able to research that old pocket watch. And many other watches! I was hooked, and I have been for 30 years.

My fascination started with a graduation present from my parents. Before I received my first mechanical watch, I had a collection of quartz watches that I had bought myself (Casio digital watch from the 80s, Swatch, Tissot T Touch and Tag Heuer Aquaracer chronotimer).

For my graduation gift, I received an automatic Montblanc Meisterstuck Star with date and guilloche dial. It was my first ever automatic watch and I instantly fell in love with the sweeping second hand - it moved smoothly around the dial.

Since then, my fascination with mechanical watches grew, especially the different types of complications a watch. My watch collection has grown with the addition of Stowa, Sinn and IWC 3777.
