How many MKXI's made each year?

Hi all, I have a MKXI wrist watch from first year of manufacture in 1948. The
serial number is actually 1948/48 and I was wondering how many were actually
produced in that first year? would it be in the thousands? Just curious as its
such a coincidence to have the same number as the year, afterall there can
only be one of these each year if that many were produced.

The number of Mk. 11 produced by IWC against the 1948 order (delivered in
1949) amounts to 2,000.
