how's the weather: what's on your wrist today?

I've had it for 12 years or so. It was my second mechanical watch - shortly after a Mark XV. It has seen it's time in dozens, maybe hundreds, of hot, dirty, sweaty, and wet environments, never had service, and still works great. It is certainly not an IWC - not even close - but sure serves its purpose for me!

Yes, I admit it Thang. I baby my IWC's. I do have an Ingenieur and an Aquatimer. Either will take those environments, but I simply don't expose my IWC's to that. I also don't swim with them - I even usually take them off when I wash my hands or wash the dishes for my wife. I figure, why risk a multi thousand dollar watch because an inexpensive seal might fail unexpectedly and without my knowledge?

Yes, I may be weird. But many or most of my watches get lots of wear but still look fairly new, and when I do choose to sell one, which I've done dozen of times to help fund new IWC's, people know they're going to get a watch that is in great condition and likely to be even better than I decsribed.

That may not work for everyone, but it fits my style and has worked well for me.

Other than the blue BPP, I am not sure I'd ever take this one off!

someone please correct me if i am wrong, but I would say apart of IWC, Oris is the only other Swiss manufacturer that is located outside the traditional watch industries located within the French speaking cantons of Geneva and Neuchâtel..

How about Moser?

Moser in Schaffhausen make about 1500 watches a year, sadly I am not an owner and never had wrist time with one. From a watch making point of view I have zero idea as to whether they are average, good or brilliant as quality movement makers.

There are more, for example Revue Thommen in Waldenburg... Switzerland might seem very small to foreigners, but has much more to show than only the brands that make loud noise.

hmmm...I must admit that I usually overlooked H. Moser & Cie, but since Alan mentioned it 2-3 posts ago, I managed to get idea about pricing of the brand...no sure if this would sufficiently correspond with definitions as 'average' or 'good' quality.....
