A full set was delivered today and also the titanium strap of a ref. 3536 fits
    perfectly.

Complementary colors are not new, it was already used in the 60s and I like
    this color combination very much.

Never before have I seen this Cousteau live and I am thrilled. I missed it in
2005 and now finally found as NOS.

Many thanks to all for your interest in this beauty.

Today I switsched to Velcro, because I like Velcros since my OCEAN
    experiances.

Simply puting into the washing machine if required. Straightforward, as I like
    it.

Fantastic, Heiko! I know you are thrilled to find this one in NOS condition.
It's another example of the original being (one of) the best.

I remember there were some of this model which had the sides of the case
brushed, and some had the sides polished. I need to check mine and see which
I have- but which is yours? It would be interesting to see what other people
    have.

As an aside, I have written you privately the other week, but did not hear
back- perhaps check your spam and see if it landed there.

    Hi Heiko,

I remember its introduction at SIHH many years ago and I believe it was the
    first model devoted to Cousteau.

There was a party organised by IWC for guests of SIHH and some 15 invited
collectors. It was shown in a display and 6 collectors were standing in front
of it. We were so smashed by its appearance that all 6 ordered that watch at
the spot, taking the decision in a split second. This funny experience
happened once more when the collector Ingenieur was revealed. Over 90 percent
of the limited series was ordered the same day.

    Adrian.

post whether your's are polished or brushed.

Many new reactions on this topic, thanks to all for your interest on this
    fantastic watch.
And many very interesting information about the Cousteau launch. It was in
    2004, wasn´t it ?

Meanwhile dark enough in this area for a lume shot.

Congratulations Heiko, that really is quite a find all right. I, like others
here on the forum, have been tempted by this one from time to time - but have
yet to see one as nice as this! Most hands and dials show some age or fading -
yours must have been tucked away in the dark all this time, waiting for you...

    @ BEN.

As stated, I am a NOS freak due to the reasons you mentioned and you gave a
    very good hint => FADING

That is not only a tritium issue but rather a luminova issue as well.
But fadings could have really interesting colors.
Some examples: T and SL Fadings.

Finally I decided to use this variant with black rubber strap, because I don´t
like the blue rubber strap. The blue strap color dosen´t fit to the dial.

I love the vibrancy of mine (both the blue and the orange). Although I haven't
tested it in the dark it has been serviced since I got it and so it is
    probably fully 'luminova'd'.

    It has brushed sides.

I got an Aquatimer stainless steel bracelet (not sure which model) which suits
it really well and helps balance the weight of the head.

p.s. I also got a copy of The Cousteau Society book "Engineers of the Sea"
which, I believe, was supplied with the 3548 Cousteau.
