    Hi.
I am new to this forum, but I am not entirely new to the brand. I am however, very new to the world of vintage watches- and as such, kindly ask your assistance in identifying a specific piece.

It is listed on a "trade-site" in my country as an IWC cal 853 with a 34mm case. Asking price is abt €1000.

    Pictures from the ad below.
Does anyone know anything more about this model and do you think it looks original?
There are no pictures of the movement, but I have emailed the seller asking for info and if possible, pictures of that.

Any help or advice is very much appriciated.

I recently  obtained a rare IWC 18K gold pocket watch in excellent condition, that was stored in a vault for 30 years and keeps accurate time. The watch is identified inside the watch workings as manufactured in 1868/1869 Case#1254,movement#5815. This is a large watch weighing 115 grams,74.295 circumference, and 19.558mm in thickness. I imagine from all I have learned this is one of the first watches made and only 4,000 were made from 1868/1869 - 1875. Very few came to the US due to the high import tariffs. In 1875 IWC under Jones control  went bankrupt and became managed and owned by others.Little information or records where kept on these watches prior to 1875.I am having this watch appraised by a gemoligist for insurance purposes.
l welcome any information anyone may know about the history of these watches or comments on this watch.

    Thanks/site_media/ckeditor_images/00c1a4f7087e5c1d688397890130d3db.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/09bbd6a22f8d5978e2fa4210799231f9.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/6738fd4c90cd6a8ba7a2d063aca50337.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/47fc3752c27b033d5dbf28cc8f6cf0b6.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/5e7209ca0e80c2e3a7282de6476d2623.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/654a6b51937b1deb3b9deefc3cba7d5c.jpg/site_media/ckeditor_images/4ba978103e30b809567cbbad0390932e.jpg

    Hi Blanc,
the watch looks OK for me, but the Crown is not matching to the age of the watch, the winding crown with that fish symbol is made by IWC however those crowns have only been much earlyer that the Watch was produced.

The seller doesnt take much attention to straps isn't he? If i would like to sell a watch in that price range i would attach strap that fits the watch. I would insist ona picture of the movement before taking a decision. There are other watches - better ones on the market when it comes to the price asked for.
