Dear IWC friends & Cal.89 lovers,
Cal.89 Zwyro, an Interesting attempt.
It is like our IWC life -It seems plain outside, But inner world has
beautifully glistened.

great watch and photo--thanks!
someone had one at the Collectors Meeting, too. I wonder how many were made?

Me made a little research...
There was a time when some Cal.89 Zwyro watches were on the market. Collector collegues found out the follwing. Mr. Zwyssig former technical director of IWC ran a service company besides his job at IWC (I wonder why that was possible) called ZWYRO AG. IWC gave also watches for repair outhouse to ZWYRO. Mr. Zwyssig bought 34 (or 36 - that's the other figure we heard) and they were gilted and handgraved (some said by his doughter; Mr. Jäger told me at the meeting it was his nephew when I remember well) at the ZWYRO AG.
I have seen 5 of them in my life: my own the one at the meeting, Mr. Nikator's one and 2 at the sellers home where I bought mine.
There are some differerences: in one lot the 2 big wheels of the Cal.89 are NOT gilted. Besides that I compared the 2 at the sellers home with a big big microscope: the work is amazing: I codn't see any difference!
Thanks to Dr.Goerter...
Nothing have I heard about Zwyro Cal.89 except information from
Dr.Goerter. At least, Three Zwyro models are to be found in Japan.
(I've heard one has Gold case) But who have concealed?
There's little point to me whether rare or not , Simply it's pleasant
enough to share its aesthetics with IWC connoisseurs.
I appreciate to Dr. Goerter, Dr.Sawai and Mr.Earlyiwc.

Nikator from Japan
If we were to combine our numbers..
we might come up with the exact total.
Mine has movement# 1932219 and case# 1978733. This brings the forum total to 6 unless I bought my watch from Hans Goerter's source, too.
You are right!
The forthcoming value of a watch or even a profit should be a think we don't discuss! We are collectors and no dealers!
Well, when this Zwyro Cal289 came to me it has its ordinary Ref.810-cast and an ordinary SS-back. I was really in trouble esp. when I thought of a discussion I had with the head of the watch service at WEMPE here in my town. We ware talking about display backs and he said: "Its not so important that you see a movement, it's much more important that YOU know what within a case".
Even though I order
ed a display back for the Zwyro :=)
Welcome to the Zwyro family!
Movement number: 1935033
Case number: 2004407
How did you count that 6???
Zwyro edition
Very near yours (probably the same source)
case 1'978'763
mov 1'932'716
Thanks, We'll check two Zwyro
at the next meeting in TOKYO!
