I welcome all the German speaking member to our Forum, and look forward to their valuable participation.
Perhaps IWC could have been more sensitive to the feelings of the German speaking members in the process of closing the German language forum, but sensitiveness is not the first quality that comes to mind when describing the Teutonic peoples. :)
IMHO, the consolidation of the two fora in one in forum in English makes sense. English is now everybody's language, it is no more the language of the English.
And it can be argued that English is actually a form of German.

I welcome the German speaking members to our Forum.

Lately there has been discussions mainly on contemporary pieces.. Hope you guys (and girls) bring up nice discussions and... vintage watches!

I think with those statements the discussion gets out of control.It really sounds like racism! A polite handling of things is not a matter of nationality.
Maybe you are right and honesty is our "first quality".
And: good to learn that English is a "form of German". Well, just come over and try it :=)... more than a lame try to justify what IWC has done.

I suggest to close this forum as well. This is all getting out of hand and IWC seems unwilling to manage a forum in general - not only the german one.

I too would like to echo my welcome to our German speaking friends and look forward your contributions.

I had the real pleasure to meet many of you who attending SIHH 2011 and I can truly say that, regardless of language, there is a shared passion for IWC!

HELP - I recently bought an IWC Portofino Automatic (not the newest version but the one before) and it is starting to stop as I use it a little less (not every day as for the first months when I could't take it off!).

The problem is (or so I hope) that I don't know how to wind it.

I've read some instructions using google as my main tool but there is always one or two steps that I don't fully understand (being Spanish and English not being my natural language does not help either).

I don't know if I have to pull the crown or not, how many positions (being 0 where it usually stays, 1 to change the date and 2 to change the time), in which sense do I hace to wind, for how long, etc...

So please, if anyone has this same model and can help me I would be very grateful as I start to become a paranoid imagining it has a defect or that I have broken it, etc...

Thank you for your warm welcome. Although being a "hun" by the grace of my birth .-), I like your english (?) sense of humour. It's in a way like Monty Python or John Cleese in 'Faulty Towers' :-).
Despite the harsh process of closing the German language forum, I am looking forward to interesting discussions in our now common forum.

Comparing my sense of humor to Monty Python' comedy, and to John Cleese's humor in "Faulty Towers", my favorite comedy series of all times, (remember "The Germans"?) is very flattering. I only wish I had 1/100 of their talent.
I obviously failed in my post. It was the law of unintended consequences at work. All I was trying to do was lighten up an awkward situation.

I have had this problem as well. Humor is sometimes not well understood across cultural lines. That's why I have adapted Nad's trick of capitalized LOL or lots of ;):o) To indicate I am trying to be funny. Ask Thorsten...we had a good meeting in Geneva last year after an unintentional misunderstanding.
