I have had this problem as well. Humor is sometimes not well understood across cultural lines. That's why I have adapted Nad's trick of capitalized LOL or lots of ;):o) To indicate I am trying to be funny. Ask Thorsten...we had a good meeting in Geneva last year after an unintentional misunderstanding.

MasterI always try to be double funny, if I want to be funny: I make my funny remark, but don't put any LOL or smileys in the text. Then I wait to see what happens. Sometimes it backfires, and in my weird sense of humour I find that funny. So maybe I am a funnier guy than you all might think. But right now I think it is best to get some sleep, and that is not funny, although I sleep well most of the time.

I actually dislike the LOL thingy, and never use it. I do not Laugh Out Loud that much. However, I do use the :) SMILY thingy with some frequency, especially when it is not clear I am joking. I used it in my post, which should have been a clue.
This is not just a case of misunderstood humor across cultures. There is more to it, but I just do not wish to continue talking about it. This will be my last comment on this matter. -

A lot of things happened after the SIHH and the launch of our new website. Amongst other things we are working intensely on additional language versions like German or Chinese.

I think you'll be proven wrong. I also think IWC considers the German speaking market as very important.
I also understand how many people feel about the closing of the German forum, and appreciate the concern about this issue. I will do the best I can under these circumstances, and sincerely welcome German speaking collectors --and indeed everyone who loves IWC watches--here. But also I must ask that this forum communicate in English. At some point, I've been asked to keep posts up only in English, and I will need to do that.
Thanks for your understanding. I will do whatever I can to be supportive of all collectors.

Then you will need to do your PFLICHT. However, it seems that the IWC still puts German TUGENDEN above liberality when it comes to forum discipline. Also, you should keep in mind that none of your English postings in the German forum had been deleted.

Thank you...I will do best under the circumstances. I appreciate that are or have been some inconsistencies and will try to moderate fairly if not perfectly. I also appreciate the issue of writing in a non-native language and the psychology of that.
All said, let's talk watches. We all should share a passion for IWC watches, and move on as best possible.
