Many of you--especially newbies-- may not know about the late Frederich ("Fritz") Wagener, who passed away in 2007. Fritz was a real IWC vintage expert and collector --perhaps the singularly most knowledgeable person in the world about early IWC pocket watches.
Fritz' name on this forum was "earlyiwc" and it fit him perfectly. It's worthwhile browsing through the archives for posts by "earlyiwc", although in all or almost all instances the images are no longer shown.
Fritz also had a website about IWC called "zeitwerke.com". Shortly before he passed away he took it down, and wrote me with some sadness "The decision to shut it down is mainly caused by my present state of health. So I aim to retire gradually from the 'World of IWC'." The website was then reinstituted for a short time, and there was some talk about continuing it by others, but then after Fritz' passing it was discontinued.
This of course was a loss for many of us. However, I've found a few pages using a "wayback" site, and have included links to them below. This is in memory and honor of Fritz.
Regards,
Michael
