And now came the story behind this item:my grandfather from my mother side was an officer in the Romanian Army during the WWII.In that period(from 1941 till 1944)Romania was allied with Germany against the USSR,and my grandfather was friend with an highly rank geman officer and they fight together untill Stalingrad and back to Romania, after the Red Army lounch the counteroffensive in 1943.
In the few litle time they have to spend in Romania(between the battles, when they came in permission)that highly rank german officer(my grandfather never told us his real name, just simpy"Jurgen")was hosted in my grandfather house.
In 1944,when the Red Army came in our contry, the German Army was force to live, and that german officer,as a proof of their friendship that has bounds them on the front and beyond, gives to my grandfather this watch as a gift and an remember item of their friendship....they never sees again from that moment.
Unfortunately, after the Red Army came in our country,"the comunist era" started in Romania, with very bad consequences for all, included my grandfathers family and for himself...he was discharged from the Romanian Army,Military degraded, acused of the"crime" to be a friend with"the enemy"...he was badlly umiliated(professionally,humanlly,socially....he never receve, also my grandmother,a penssion from the comunist romanian state). In all that period(1944-1989) my grand father kept hidden this watch, because if the romanian secret police(Securitatea) finds you with luxury items, gold or foreign currency it was a conviction for jail.
After the Romanian Revolution in 1989,my grandfather was rehabilitated,he was declared a war veteran and it has been recognized the merits to be fought for his country.
He passed away in 1996,at age of 82(God bless him),but my grandmother its still alive at 98 years old.....
I don't now if the story is enteirelly true, but i think that this watch is the"missing link"to explane a lot of things from my grandfather's past.
So then,if its possible,in the memory of my grandfather and for my grandmother who has suffered enough, maybe you can help me to do something good and honorable for her......we have the item and the story.

    Remarkable, indeed. Wow.

The watch is a calibre 62 (that's the movement type) made in 1941. Posting a photo would be nice; you need to use an image host like Photobucket. Also you might find the watch or something close by looking at the 1941-42 catalogs I've posted at this link click here.
