While every blogger in the blogosphere has, by this time, posted inumerable photos from the tres chic IWC boutique in Manhattan, I wanted to write about the actual buying experience.

I'm an IWC collector, no actually an addict. I pretty much own something from every generation since 1980, and sincerely lust for things numbered 5441, 5227 and such. I also like to keep up with the current generation, so went to the IWC boutique in search of the new 3262 world timer.

It's easy to get distracted by the architecture and the furnishings, but I was on a mission. The watches are distracting too. Unlike some AD's we'll fail to mention, there were no dusty GST chronos on offer here -- just the good stuff. And I'm talking EVERYTHING from the current collection. It's truly an IWC lovers' paradise.

But to the experience. At the boutique, you can find sales staff as passionate about the product as the collectors they sell to. It's rare in my experience to find someone knowledgeable about the brand, the pieces, and the heritage. Here at the boutique, you can fine all of that and more. You're in good company with true believers in the brand and everything it stands for.

Mind you I trooped into the boutique with three kids and Mrs. IWC collector in tow, but I couldn't have found a staff more excited to see us, more inviting, or more friendly. This was, bar none, the best watch buying experience of my ten-plus years of collecting. Kudos to Patrick and the IWC Manhattan boutique staff for an all-around outstanding experience.(and a cool watch, too. The world timer is quite awesome.)

    Robert,
Your comments are accurate. It is a pretty cool place and, indeed, the staff makes it a welcoming venue in which to purchase a watch or strap. Clearly, the level of customer service is very high. You just want to buy something when you are there.

Robert, I have to agree with Alan and your comments, the customer service is the best. The staff really goes out of their way for every visitor to the boutique to make the buying experience special. As I am still waiting on my world timer to be delivered, how about some pictures of yours.
Enjoy and wear it in good health.

Robert, your comments are inviting too! To go watch shopping with children is somerhing that I never thought is possible. I have visited several ADs during my 11 years of collecting IWCs and made good and bad experience. But that really sounds inviting to me on the other side of the Atlantic. I'm planning a trip to NYC in 2 years as a birthday gift for my beloved wife. Her year count will be an even number then.
That will be my al to her:
One week NYC with going anywhere she wants to and 3 hours in the NYC IWC boutique for me.
Thanks for sharing your great experience, Robert.

Congrats Robert, that really looks great. Many world timer watches are too busy but IWC managed to make it look rather clean.

As for watch shopping with kids, I've done it only once. Went to the IWC boutique in Geneva as well as a few other shops. The staff at the boutique couldn't have been any nicer to them, offering them beverages and speaking with them. Then they went our of their way to compliment me on how well behaved the boys were (they were on their best behavior that day, it isn't always that way). It makes me wonder if this is something that IWC instills in their sales staff.

Great watch - mine just arrived too and the world time capability is fantastic!

I went to the HK Flagship last week and the Manhattan boutique on Sunday and I have to say that I prefer Manhattan. Although in HK the staff were very friendly - they even game me an IWC usb drive and travel case which would above and beyond my expectations - thank you!

How are you finding your World Timer keeping time?
