Assuming this is allowed of course.
I am currently trying to decide between a 5002 slow beat and a 5009.  The 5009 is new.  Both are similarly priced.  The 5002 is recently back from service...complete service, crown replaced and second hand replaced.  Actual receipt/document was sent to me.  I have some videos I would like to share with someone off line.
If anyone has experience with both and is willing to talk to me offline I would appreciate it.  My email is jpmason08@gmail.com

Thank you!

With approximately 300 views and no response I assume it is due to one of the following:
1)  No one on the IWC forum has knowledge of the Big Pilot 5002 or 5009 or does not want to offer their advice
2)  I have posted in the wrong section
3)  I have asked a question that is not against forum rules but is not generally accepted either.
4)  A reason I have not thought of

I would appreciate any thoughts.

Thank you for the reply, Bill B.
Would you mind if i send you a couple videos and the IWC service document I received and give me your opinion on authenticity?  If so, send me an email at jpmason08@gmail.com.  No worries if not.

In general buyer beware.. buy the seller; even if the seller sent some videos of a genuine watch that doesn’t guarantee they will send the same watch. Try to get professional references or references that know you know who know the seller. Normally it’s a lot easier when the watch has an open case back; but all BPs unfortunately are closed case back.

Between those 2, I'd go for the 5002. If it's back from a complete IWC overhaul and you put on a new strap, it's as good quality as a brand new watch. It's the original beauty. An icon in IWC history. The first 46 mm Big Pilot's watch by IWC that was ever made and the first one in a series of many that came after.

I'm no expert, but this has got to be fake, right?  That red airplane looks like my 7 year old made it.  She is really good at crafts, but still.

Why are you suspecting the watch?
what gives you cause for concern?

This may not be a fake. IWC produced a Limited Edition ( 300 pieces) 3717 tribute to the Swiss Air Patrol back around 2011/12. It was a bead blasted steel case and available only in Switzerland when released.

Apologies All around!!

i think you might be correct Andy.
But, in 2012, serial numbers were 36xxxx - I fear “5000203” might be made up.

But it I stand to be corrected.
