In the memory of my grandfather-Part Four/ The Legacy

My dear friends (I allowed to call it so because this it"s what I feel)I will now tell you and ask you to help me iff you can to fulfill the last wish of my grandfather ..... depending on what you decide may be the end of a beautiful life stories or not, the beginning of an adventure that will last a lifetime!
Grandfather told us often that he was impressed not only by the courage, heroism, devotion and determination that characterize his friend,the german officer, but also he was a very educated and erudite man (he was a college graduate in Germany, one achievement for those times) with a strong faith in God and have learned from him only good things ,subsequently used them in life ......
In the long days and nights they spent in terrible Russian winter, when they had a moment of rest between two battles, confide in each other .....the german officer told my grandfather that did not agree with what happens (he was not a fanatic Nazi or an SS member) but because his country was at war it was his duty to serve even with the ultimate price, as Germany is above Hitler and that when all the evil of the war will end,he will do everything possible so that those two sons of his and his country do not pass again through such a terrible experience ..... my grandfather warned that if Russians will come into our country we have a disaster. ..how right it was!
Also,with his experience and knowledge,the german officer learned quickly the romanian language and Jurgen(that was his name) translates for my grandfather the works of Aristotle, Sophocles, Demosthenes, Cicero ... poems by Byron, Goethe, quotes by Shakespire Julius Caesar, Voltaire, Napoleon, Bismarck, literature from Dikens .... and together they prayed to God to help and protect them!Because of these events,my grandfather remained deeply marked about how, through education, culture and faith his friend, Jurgen, has formed a strong personality who helped him to pass safely through those heavy war times and he swore that his descendants will benefit from increased choice through education and training which he has not even had ... when they said goodbye in 1944 and when it received the watch his friend Jurgen this told him that this brand, IWC, (at that time he had over 70 years of existence) best reflects the foundation of their friendship and spirit that defines them: made for courageous people, honest, determined and who are fighting for a nobile cause...WHO DARES,WINS.. and at some point this watch can become a means, not a purpose in itself,to reach great ideals!
Unfortunately, the prediction of Jurgen about the Russian occupation came true, and for almost 50 years Romania was ruled by the "red plague" ... because of that and because my grandfather had the "impudence" to fight alongside the Germans and against Russians, both he and his entire family were considered "enemies of the people" (that was the name they gave us by the communist state) .. this has mean that above the privations and humiliations besides financial, social and professional that we was subjected ,both my mother and I we were denied the access to university , because we were "offspring of traitors"! !!!When the revolution came in 1989 in Romania for my mother was too late for college and I tried, without false modesty, to become a self made man (even the english language I have started to learn in 1984 from foreign radio stations like BBC, Voice of America, because at school they teach us only in Russian !!) but I didn"t graduate a college!
Because of this, when my grandfather saw that he can"t keep his promise to us,he self-punish him and considered that due to his friendship with the german officer has destroyed the lives of my mother and mine ...he was on the brink of a nervous breakdown and we had to fight hard to put him up again and do not give satisfaction to the communist state that want"s see us"on the knees"!With a few months before his death in 1996 (I think he fell it) grandfather called me to him as men and apologized for not able to offer us a better life and told me that now the responsibility is mine and that when I"m marryed and have kids I must do for them what he could"t do for us, especially to the part of a higher education ... with tears in his eyes he told me that only now, almost 50 years after the last meeting with his friend Jurgen, he understood what want"s to tell him they took goodbye and that even if he will not see his grandchildren is my duty (if I deem it necessary ) even use this watch for they can attend to the university ... he and Jurgen their understand and enjoy, up there in Heaven, if this clock will be used for a good cause!
19 years have passed since the last discussion with my grandfather and his words still reverberated in my soul and conscience ... I married, I have 2 boys (eldest 14, the youngest 4 years) and here came the moment, my dearest friends to ask for your help .... we were able to provide them, me and my wife, for our kids who they are living in an decent home, to feed them, clothe them and also we were able to educate them better in the spirit and in the memory of my grandfather and his friend, the German officer Jurgen .... but although we worked hard me and my wife from 8 o"clock in the morning till 18-19 hours in the evening the monthly income for the family does not rise more than 700 EURO / 450 I and 250 euro my wife/ for all 4 people who are (these are the wages in Romania for people without college !!!!)
In these circumstances it is obvious that I can not bear the financial costs of admission + 4 years of college for my eldest son (in 4 years begin the exams) given that he strives, learn very well, has good grades and he is the chairman of the board students in his school .... I would break his heart again if I can not help him with the education who deserve it.
Therefore, from all my heart and soul, please help me to evaluate and sell this watch at a price that I can not and I do not know how to do it (I tried also here in Romania but I met only two categories of people : either ignorant or crooks) because I do not have the knowledge, expertise and especially your financial possibilities ...... if the price obtained would cover at least a part of the college costs for my eldest son I will be the happiest man in the world. ....You have the opportunity do not close the circle that began with my grandfather and his noble German friend and turned it into a spiral that goes on thru life through my children ...
And maybe who knows, if you can give them "wings" to go further,it is possible that at some point in time my children to become friends with your children and share the same values ​​that formed the basis of this exceptional relationship between my grandfather and his German friend .. Come together to teach and guide them in the spirit of these values and ​​when they grow up and God helps them to wear to their hand an IWC that know"s exactly what these timepices really are!
Because in my opinion, IWC is not just a luxury brand that everyone,from pure vanity, want to have it as a trophy but something much deeper ...... means respect, courage, noble attitude, cararter, dedication, generosity and especially great life stories behind those who produced and wearing these beautiful watches .... when Jurgen gave this watch to my grandfather he virtually put his soul on his wrist and without hesitation he never regretted a moment ..... Come on,dare you also to give and share your life stories .... you will see that you feel better and when you will be in difficulty ,will not believe how many friends around you are welling to help ... the story can go further,it"s up to us !!!!!
This is in my opinion the true LEGACY left by my grandfather, Jurgen and who knows how many "Anonymous" who honored the name and reputation of IWC! Those are the reasons that we love this wonderfull watches!
