    HI folks. This
is my first post here. I'm sorry my first post is a question,
but I'm hoping the info I get from the knowledgeable people in the group will
enable me to buy my first IWC! :-)

I'm hoping to buy a vintage IWC Yacht Club in 18ct gold, but would like to
know between what years this was made, what movement it had in it and if they
are considered desirable watches? Don't get my wrong, I'm not buying it for an
investment, but I'm new to the vintage scene so at the same time it would be
nice to know that the market isn't likely to take a significant downturn.

    Thanks

Your question is not so easy to answer as Yacht Club was in production in
several forms, with movements ranging from Cal 89 to Cal 85xx as well as
    Quartz

The Cellar has created a fantastic resource which you can check here:
    www.gregsteer.net/IWC/Catalogues_1940s_onward/Catalogue_1974/IWC_Catalogue_1974.html

Referance 9205 in gold is particularly attractive

If you can post a pic of the particular model that interests you, we could
    give you more accurate comments

    Hi Mark,

Thanks so much for your reply. Here is a picture of the actual watch. I've not
been able to find any info on this model with the smaller IWC logo at the top,
so any help is much appreciated.

Looks like Ref 9205 from 1974 catalogue.
Various dial scripts may not necessarily generate a different reference
    number.

Thanks. Do you know if the dial script of my pic is rarer? It would appear so
judging by the lack of google and IG results, but I can't find any
documentation from my research that explains the differerent logo and script.
I presume the logo in my pic is probbly earlier than the block logo?

Thanks. That doesn't answer my question about the different logo though.

    Hi WATCHGUYUK,

yes the inscript of the dial without the applied logo is indeed unusual. A
internet research brought up the following:

Then there are service dials that were exchanged in younger years. There are
also differences to the originals, besides the change from tritium to SL. For
example, for a long time, gold service dials were only available with a
printed logo, not with the applied logo, and the frame around the date is
    missing.

It looks that your Yacht Club is equipped with a service dial.
