Innovative surgeon wears IWC Big Pilot

Breakthroughs in technology and specifically medical breakthroughs have a high interest for a very large fraction of the population - and I am always trying to keep up to date. For a latest breakthrough click on the Washington post link below.

So what is the connection to IWC and the forum.

In a CNN TV interview today Dr. Paolo Macchiarini is in every image nicely showing his IWC Big Pilot.....even in the operating theatre. He even switched the watch wearing wrist in another part of the interview from right to left.......

it is very tough

and with so many wonderful BP acquisitions during this year my only resistance is based on all the BP's having all been bought up already (LOL).....

While I find the idea of celebrities wearing a certain timepiece entertaining I don't think that either IWC or the specific timepiece needs to depend on such an endorsement unless it serves a very specific functional purpose to the wearer in which case here I haven't seen it.

Most often a featured timepiece represents a personal style at best and that taste varies with each individual. So, just because Professor or Sports celebrity wears an Ingenieur or a BP, it doesn't mean that I, too, will or should acquire a taste for the same watch.

As a technician, I'm always interested in seeing a watch brand fall back on the strength of its innovative quality products rather than rely on celebrity endorsements. And, in the IWC brand, there's no shortage of technical and precision checkpoints in their manufacture.
